It has its own secret garden, a private bar, bathroom, and waiting staff to look after you come day or night. With a unique glass roof and contemporary art galleries, the National Glass Centre, located on the banks of the River Wear near to Sunderland, offers a number of unique photo opportunities. The Centre is licensed to hold civil ceremonies and can accommodate up to 120 guests in its Riverside Room. Alternatively, for a more intimate affair, The Pod overlooks both the Glass Yard and the River Wear, accommodating up to 50 guests for the ceremony and up to 30 for your wedding breakfast. Finally, the Glass Centre’s Glass Yard offers a wider panoramic view of the riverfront and, equipped with a built-in bar, is the perfect space for an evening reception to dance the night away with up to 150 of your nearest and dearest family and friends.

The Biscuit Factory, located in Newcastle’s cultural quarter is the ideal wedding venue for couples seeking a unique, creative, and stylish backdrop for their big day. Housed in a former Victorian warehouse, The Biscuit Factory is the UK’s largest independent commercial art, craft, and design gallery. Within the building, couples can choose to exchange their vows in either the gallery or their function suite (The Biscuit Room). This venue is licensed to hold civil ceremonies with up to 120 guests but can cater for up to 250 guests at a wedding breakfast or evening reception.
Dating back to 1080, Newcastle Castle is a medieval fortification that steered the course of history for centuries to come. The venue consists of two main structures – the Castle Keep, a fortified stone tower, and Black Gate, a fortified gatehouse. In the Castle Keep, you will find the intimate Garrison Room, ideal for drinks receptions, and the Great Hall, suitable for up to 70 guests for a drink’s reception or buffet. Meanwhile, in the Black Gate, you can find the Harbottle Suite, with a maximum capacity of 60 guests. Please note, the maximum capacity in attendance for a civil ceremony is capped at 60 guests.
Jesmond Dene House is a luxury hotel situated fifteen minutes from the centre of Newcastle. It has 5 different venues to choose from within its grounds. Most striking of all is The Great Hall. Located in Gateshead, The Marriott Hotel is perfectly located within Newcastle. Further, with a 250-guest capacity in The European Suite, the Marriot is the ideal venue for those extravagant weddings. It can also hold a smaller more intimate wedding as The European Suite can be sub-divided into three sections. Alternatively, you may choose to book the London Suite, suitable for up to 30 guests. Alternatively, Trader Restaurant accommodates up to 120 guests for your civil ceremony and wedding breakfast, and up to 150 guests for the evening reception, along with direct access to a peaceful Patio. As the international home for music in the North East, and one of the Independent’s top 50 wedding venues in the world, Sage Gateshead is an amazing and unique venue. Whether you want something lavish and grand, or small and intimate, several spaces are available for you. The Northern Rock Foundation Hall, for example, accommodates up to 220 for a civil partnership or ceremony, 150 for a seated banquet, and up to 200 for an evening reception. The Barbour Room meanwhile, accommodates up to 250 for a civil partnership and ceremony, 180 seated, and up to 220 for an evening reception. Finally, Sage One accommodates up to 1,700 guests (!!) while Sage Two accommodates up to 400 guests.
