The Black Horse at Beamish was the setting for Kevin & Jackie’s wedding recently. This traditional coaching inn has expanded over time to become a beautiful County Durham wedding venue. Rustic in style with beautiful views over the nearby countryside. Kevin and Jackie had wanted to have a relaxed and friendly wedding and this was the perfect place. In fact, when I arrived at the venue a couple of hours before the time of the ceremony I met Kevin and some of the wedding party who were all calmly enjoying a late breakfast in the restaurant. I thought – this the way weddings should be done! The ceremony itself was held inside a special room on the 1st floor of the coaching inn complete with original stone open fire places and beamed ceiling. A really nice setting for such a special event. The wedding party included friends and family who had travelled from all over the country which was great. Despite all the good things about the venue I have to say the weather was against us on the day and the wind was very strong and blustery outside. That didn’t matter inside of course but did curtail some of the group and portrait shots we had hoped for – including with some of the guests losing their hats due to the wind. We still got some great photographs of the day and it didn’t put a dampener on the event. There were some great speeches over guests clearly enjoyed the hospitality of the Black Horse. Thanks to Kevin and Jackie for inviting me to provide their wedding photography for the day.
