Carole & Thomas’s Acklam Hall Wedding
It was great to be asked to cover Carole & Thomas’s wedding at Acklam Hall. I’ve worked as a photographer at Acklam Hall many times before and it’s an ideal location for weddings and functions. Acklam Hall is a recently refurbished Jacobean style mansion originally built in the 17th Century. The building is Grade 1 listed and features some stunning ceilings and fireplaces. Over the years Acklam Hall has been a private house as well as a school and 6th form college. Many of the guests at weddings I have covered recall their days at the school when they studied in the library (now ceremony and dining room) or waited outside the Headmaster’s study on the ground floor. Carole & Thomas actually live in Denmark and this was a celebration of their wedding for friends and family from Middlesbrough (where Carole is from originally). It was a great way to get people together to share in their special day. The theme of the evening was ‘nautical’ which related to Carole & Thomas’s work on cruise ships and it was how they had originally met. As well as covering all the candid shots from the reception and meal I took some photos of the group outside of Acklam Hall – a great backdrop for this type of photo. I also put together some portrait shots of the bride and groom in the grounds looking onto the hall in the background. It was a pleasure to cover Carole and Thomas’s wedding and I wish them all the best for your future together.
