Hazlewood Castle is a truly stunning venue for a wedding. Set in beautiful countryside and large grounds just near Tadcaster and Leeds, Hazlewood is an extremely popular choice for any Bride and Groom. I'd not covered a wedding there although I have one booked for later in the year. This photoshoot was a demonstration photoshoot which gave me the opportunity to work at Hazlewood with some fantastic and experienced bridal models. I've done some photoshoots like this before - including this Wedding Fashion shoot at Acklam Hall last year and it's a great chance to work on new techniques and creative ideas. Being out of season.... late January.... the weather was baltic cold! However, the frost on the ground and snow in some parts made for an atmospheric setting which was great for some of the shots. The models were made of strong stuff - although were able to have a hot water bottle to keep warm at times (less than glamorous but needed in the circumstances). I was able to shoot inside the castle itself - which dates back as a site to the 13th century - with its impressive grand hall and beautiful state rooms with ornate woodwork and stone fireplaces. I also worked in the grounds themselves which include formal gardens and views over the hills and countryside nearby. The drama and impressiveness of this location comes over in the images I think. I am looking forwards to covering Luke and Nicole's wedding later in the year at Hazlewood although I hope the weather will be kinder on the day itself. Thanks to the staff at Hazlewood Castle for their help on the day and for the organiser, Chris Chambers, for organising the wedding photography photoshoot.
